Research opportunities for students

(Fall 2021 / Spring 2022)

The Viapiano Laboratory is seeking undergraduate and medical students interested in joining on-going projects in brain tumor biology. Candidates should have a strong STEM background including education in biochemistry, molecular/cellular biology, genetics, or related disciplines. Prior laboratory experience is strongly desirable. Participation in individual or independent projects is possible, depending on research experience.

Students interested in joining the lab to pursue research projects in the Summer 2022 should contact the lab early in the Spring semester (January through early March 2022). Students available to pursue projects full-time during the summer will be considered for a research stipend and opportunities for competitive funding. Students interested in competing for an intra- or extra-mural scholarship must contact the laboratory several months in advance of the deadline.

Interested students should contact Dr. Viapiano directly (viapianm@upstate.edu) to discuss available positions. Students should email their CV or resume, a brief description of any prior research experience (no more than one page), and contact information of two academic references.
